NACI Robotics – Team 2935

North Albion C.I.’s robotics team, NACI Robotis, also known as Team 2935, was started during the 2008 -2009 school year. The team takes part in two types of competitions over the course of the year. Click on the names of the two types of competitions to find out more.

VEX Robotics

The robot for this competition is a table top sized robot that must have a starting dimension no larger than 18 x 18 x 18 inches. Typically each game is played in an alliance with one other robot and each round is 2 minutes long, the first 15 seconds is autonomous, which means the robot tries to score based on programming alone the remaining 1 minute and 45 seconds is driver controlled.

FIRST Robotics Competition

(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)

This competition robot is a much larger robot that must be built within a six week time frame. Commencing upon the release of the game on the first Saturday in January and typically stopping work on the robot on the Tuesday following Family day in February. The team must design, build and program their robot within the given time frame. During a competition robots will play with 2 other alliance members working together to score the most points. During the 2016 season the team was part of the winning alliance in the North Bay Regional qualified for the World Championships in St. Louis. The 2017 season was restructured and teams had to play two competitions within their district, then play in the district championships to qualify for the World Championships. Ontario is one of the most competitive districts with over 145 teams only 60 teams qualify for the Provincial Championship. Our team qualified for the provincials where some of the best robots competed.

This year team members will be mentoring the North Kipling FIRST Lego League (FLL) team after school.
